Cut the Stress Away

What does a good haircut, tattoo or pamper day do for a girl after stressing over the same thing for months? Its like stripping away all the bad and starting over. Everyone has that one thing they do to act in place of hitting restart. I'm famous for a few things...
When my best friend passed away, I had a complete Britney moment and shaved one side of my head. When I had a bad heartbreak, I went straight to get to a tattoo. After weeks of stressing over school, work and hobbies I dyed my hair. At first, I didn't think these changes were as drastic as they sound. They were literally so small and didn't take much convincing because I was too focused on the issues behind them. It wasn't about the act of what I was doing, but about getting over them and making myself feel as though I was getting rid of every stressful thing that lead up to that moment.
Not everyone copes the same. Just like my initial thought is to do something out of the norm, some people jump to even bigger things like suicide, running away or thinking themselves into a depression.
The mind is such a delicate thing. Everyday we are evolving, seeing new things, trying new things, meeting new people and all of these things factor into the way we think. We find a new perception on things everyday. It is extremely important to be strong not only physically, but mentally as well. Many forget that mental health is crucial to be aware of. We could be doing things that could effect our way of thinking in the near future everyday.
Be honest with yourself, talk to yourself and dig deep. Not only are we introducing our minds to new things everyday that can effect our minds later on in life, but things that may have already happened to us play a part too. Childhood situations, situations that came and went, but you seem to never forget. These things can have long term effects and one day you may think your fine, when you're really not.
Physical appearance is nothing compared to mental and spiritual appearances and by that I mean if you take care of yourself from the inside out, you will not have to fake your appearance. We wear makeup to cover imperfections, we buy fancy things to "release stress," we wear fake smiles to cover our true feelings, but if we are honest with ourselves, work toward happiness and really get in tune with ourselves, these things will come easily. There are many levels and dimensions to humans, 21 may sound like a long time of living, but there are still many experiences and things we have yet to encounter which means everyday healing, adjusting and learning is needed. Take the time to work on yourself, be selfish, do not feel apologetic for putting yourself first. Be mentally strong!
