This is a man’s world... yea right. The power is all in the “P”, but yet the world is so misogynistic towards women. It's always been this way. Everywhere a woman goes, there is a man who thinks he can do her job so much better. Everywhere a woman goes, there is a man who thinks the woman cannot get the job done. Why? Because we're vulnerable? Because we're nurturing? Because we're delicate? Well, women are all of those things, but we're also strong. Do you think a man can handle carrying a human for 9 months? We're also intuitive. Sometimes it doesn't take a book to tell us what's wrong, we get a feeling that 9/10 is right. We're also resilient. We take on a lot of different emotions and hurdles and still manage to persevere. We're all around amazing, but do you think we get treated equal? No. Sometimes, we get treated less of and as crazy as that seems, I can only imagine why...
Back in the day, misogyny used to be so much more blatant. Women couldn't work in the same space as men or withhold the same level of authority as men. Women were supposed to be the ones who gave birth, took care of the children and the house and cater to their men once they got off of work. Of course overtime we evolved. We started wanting and demanding more for ourselves, so we took to protests to demand our right to vote. We started rebelling against what the workforce said and demanded jobs like men. We started speaking up and standing our ground which resulted in generations of girl bosses, but just like all history, this too repeated itself. In current events, you can now see misogyny in the form of half naked women in videos OR in 2017 see women still receiving the title of "the first woman to..." in television and music awards. Can you believe in 2017 we just awarded the first black woman for writing in a comedy series? And there's so many more barriers to break, but just like receiving the right to vote and the right to work and getting laws passed that forbids inequality in the workplace, hurdles like women being rewarded for the many things we do everyday will be overcame too.
The power is in the "P". We have the power as women to use the assets we were given to get all of the equality and recognition we want and deserve. It may take a few no's, a few protests, a few more words to be spoken for that to happen, but in due time I do not doubt that women will run the world. That phrase of "This is a man's world" for our kids and our kid's kids will soon be "This is a woman's world". No disrespect to the guys, but it's about time we get our praise too!
